Bring a clean uniform to all classes. Always wash your uniform before the next session.
Gi Classes: We respectfully ask you bring a clean white uniform to the Gi classes. The uniform should be in good condition, any tear or hole must be patched, for safety reasons.
Colored Gis can be worn during our open mat sessions.
Outside affiliation patches on the uniform are not permitted, unless you are visiting from out of town. For hygiene purposes the use of a rashguard is required underneath your uniform. Please use a black rashguard.
No Gi classes: Please bring a rashguard and knee length shorts. Spats/leggings are optional.
Alamo Heights Combat Club is a family oriented environment, please be respectful to each other at all times. We do not support the use of foul language or behavior.
We encourage everyone to shake hands with your training partners (team mates) when entering the mat. Make everyone feel welcome!
A shirt or rash guard (and pants/shorts!!) are to be worn at all times inside the academy. Please use the locker rooms to change into and out of your clothes.
During class, please address black belt instructors as Professor and non-black belt instructors as coach.
Outside coaching (parents) is not permitted – please work with us, by letting do the work.
Keep finger and toe nails neatly trimmed. Refrain from training when ill or with injury.
Keep feet clean, dirty feet are dangerous to others, due to the risk of skin infections.
Footwear should be worn at all times outside the mat, so as to keep the feet clean.
Footwear, food and drink are not permitted on the mat.
The use of socks is discouraged, for safety reasons. Room temperature will be kept more than comfortable enough for bare feet.
We highly suggest you remove all body piercings or jewelry during training sessions for safety reasons.
Electronic Devices are not permitted on the mat during training sessions.
If late, please stand outside the training area in the instructors field of view (facing the instructor) until you are welcomed by the instructor. If needed you may call out for the instructor’s attention.
Please inform the instructor before leaving the mat area, to allow him/her to keep track of all the students.
Keep entrance to training area clear, bags and backpacks are to be kept in the cupboards. This allows for easier and safer entry into (and exit from) the mat.
Make sure to keep your belt on as much as possible. After a roll retie your belt and get ready for the next round.
During instruction please sit or stand in good posture. Talking should be kept at a minimum and relate to class material.
Let’s work together and have fun!
